1 Outline of the Scheme

You must keep the claimed animals on your holding for a retention period of 2 months for calves 3 to 6 months old (inclusive) or 1 month for calves aged more than 1 month and less than 3 months of age. The retention period ends on the day before the date the animals leave your holding or the date sold, whichever is the sooner.
Claimed animals must be slaughtered no later than one month from the end of their retention period.
Veal calves slaughtered at 5 or 6 months must weigh less than 160 kgs.
Claims should be submitted to the SPS section and for each animal you claim you must include a movement card from the passport.
